Everyone was so excited for this event.
Team La Union along with the band "Ampon" represented our province for the Redhorse Beer Muziklaban Semi-finals that was held in Tarlac City last December 12.
The event started at 8:00 pm with the band Karding Sungkit (from Nueva Ecija) as a front act. They were one of the finalist for the Muziklaban 2008. The competition formally opened by our very own "Ampon", They performed 3 songs, 2 orignals (Red Shift and Wasted) and a cover song from Matishyahu (King without a Crown). Other bands who performed as contestants were 11th Heaven, Amnesty X, Arjee the Hinete, 2nd Squad and Oration Cyst. The battle were judged by Ian Tayao (vocalist of Queso), Paolo Rosal (drummer of P.O.T / Kapatid) and another one (a boss maybe) from Viva Records.
Moshpit from the audience was set on fire by the band Karding Sungkit as they performed for their second set on stage and played "Kwadrong Salamin" (one of the crowd's favourite) , a medley of Francis Magalona's songs and Rage Against the Machine.
One of the highlights for the evening were the guest bands; 2008 Redhorse Muziklaban Grand Champion - Even (from Baguio City) and one of the hardcore icon-Slapshock.
The result was announced after the guest bands performed. 2nd Squad from Baguio City won, followed by our very own Ampon with just 1.5 difference from the top band's score.
Well bad news or good news? Of course for us who spent some time / effort and money with this event; hmmm - it's indeed a bad news. Ouch!
Anyway, winning isn't everything. We are still proud for our Ampon. They did a great job in the battle! Every band performed well!
Congratulations to 2nd Squad! Let's support 2nd Squad on January 30, 2010 at Metrowalk, Ortigas, QC, for the Redhorse Muziklaban Finals.

** We're not able to take photos in a closer range because the bouncers refused to let us in. Some photos are blurry and dull. It's not easy to have an EOS camera on hand while in the crowd. hehe!

Bands came from different regions within Central and Northern Luzon competed for the Muziklaban Elimination Round (CNLA - Central and Northern Luzon) last November 7 at G5 Restobar in San Fernando City, La Union. 10 bands performed as they were judged by Paulo Manuel (Drummer - Kjwan / Quezo) and Kelley Mangahas(Bassist - Kjwan). Ampon, a band from San Fernando City, received the highest score and votes followed by Zapped from Baguio City.
Kjwan performed before the result was announced. They played cuts both from their old and new album including the song "Butterfly Carnival" (Original song by Sandwich - Marc Abaya's former band).
Great gig! A kick ass guest band Kjwan plus a fair result made the event successful.
Ampon will represent Central and Northern Luzon during the Muziklaban Semi-finals.
Congratulations to Ampon. "Rock On" to all the bands!
